Anadarko is among the largest producers of oil and clean-burning natural gas in the state.

Adding Value to Colorado Communities

Anadarko is committed to operating in a sustainable manner and proactively working with the communities where we operate throughout the state. For about 1,100 Anadarko employees, Colorado is our home, too

Community Investment

At Anadarko, our approach to community engagement and investment in Colorado goes beyond just writing a check; it is about developing meaningful relationships by investing in the success of the communities where we live and work in.

Over the last decade, Anadarko has invested more than $12 million back into communities across Colorado through our long-standing partnerships with hundreds of nonprofit organizations. Additionally, each year we partner with towns across the Front Range to provide support to events that promote community and bring residents together to celebrate what makes each community unique.

Community Investment Spotlight

  • We have been proud to work alongside Habitat for Humanity for 10 years. Our employees have donated thousands of hours of their time to build homes and change the future for 14 deserving families. In partnership with Weld-Greeley Habitat for Humanity, Anadarko supported the first of its kind Veterans build in the state of Colorado

  • We partner with Junior Achievement to teach hundreds of students each year about work readiness and financial literacy while introducing lessons on the basic uses of oil and natural gas in day-to-day life, fundamentals of geology, careers in the energy industry and conservation and environmental awareness. In 2018, Anadarko employees donated more than 600 hours of volunteer time and raised $58,000 for Junior Achievement.

“The definition of community can take on a variety of meanings. For us, building community is about stepping out and investing in our neighborhoods and the numerous programs that support all the things that make the Rocky Mountain region such a great place to live, raise our families and work. It’s a privilege for us to partner with a variety of non-profit organizations dedicated to enhancing education, supporting those in need or protecting health and the environment.”

Working collaboratively with our local partners and all of our stakeholders is a foundation for everything Anadarko does worldwide, especially in the Wattenberg Field where urban development, agricultural land and the energy industry have converged. We seek to be proactive in engaging with local governments and the citizens they represent. We hold true to our core values and prioritize working with stakeholders at all levels to share information on our operations. This includes explaining how a well is drilled and hydraulically fractured or completed, how Anadarko uses best management practices and technology to minimize impacts, and how the economic activity associated with responsible oil and natural gas development benefits local communities, the state and our nation's energy security.

We value two-way dialogue, so that we can listen to and address concerns, communicate in a meaningful way and encourage collaborative efforts for the betterment of the communities where we live and operate.

2018 Stakeholder Engagement Review

Our Approach

  • We believe stakeholder engagement and open communication is vital to the success of our operations
  • We strive to identify and connect with stakeholders and communicate in a sincere, respectful and collaborative fashion by which all participants have a voice
  • We aim to share information with stakeholders about our industry
  • We commit to responsive feedback with stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement

In Colorado, where our Wattenberg operations often occur in a rapidly growing urban setting, we conduct open houses, participate in public forums, and host field tours with residents, community leaders and news media. Our employees speak at town halls to provide resources for the public and information to demystify our industry.

Anadarko’s Colorado Response Line

Launched in 2014, our response line opens communication while tracking issues, seeking solutions and providing resolution for stakeholders in and around the Wattenberg field. Anadarko also opens the lines of communication with stakeholders by distributing informative brochures, which outline the expected timing of operations and an explanation of how we use operational innovations to increase our compatibility within the community and ecosystem.
